Patrick Dempsey on the big screen again: May 2

With the current season on hold for the past few months, stars of Grey’s Anatomy have had this newly acquired free time to conquer all sorts of feats.

For one, Katherine Heigl not only starred in another box office favorite, 27 Dresses, she also got married to the love of her life, Josh Kelley. Patrick Dempsey also shares the big screen. Dempsey already has Enchanted already under his belt, a movie about a Disney princess who is forced from her animated world into real-life New York City (Dempsey plays the modern day Prince Charming), and now a release date has finally been broadcasted for his newest upcoming film, Made of Honor.

The movie, a romantic comedy about “a guy in love with an engaged woman who tries to win her over after she asks him to be her maid of honor,” will release on May 2,

With about two months left before any new Grey’s Anatomy episodes air, I figured I would share some fun videos, pictures and information about the cast members.This youtube video is a slideshow of various pictures of the cast.

The picture below is of some of the leading Grey’s ladies. From left to right; Katherine Heigl (“Izzie”), Kate Walsh (“Addison,” who recently left the show to begin her very own spin-off, Private PracticeI), Chandra Wilson (“Miranda Bailey”) and finally Sara Ramirez (“Callie”).

Below is a picture of on-again-off-again lovers Ellen Pompeo (“Meredith Grey”) and Patrick Dempsey (“Derek Shepherd”). When the season starts up again it will be interesting to see if these two end up getting back together, or getting on with other co-workers. We shall see…

As the SAG writers’ strike comes to a close there are big decisions to be made by top television stations as to which shows make the cut of production and which are still on hold.

For Grey’s Anatomy fans… ABC made a very, very good move by awarding nine different series full-season pick-ups; one of them being Shonda Rhimes’ Grey’s Anatomy.

ABC’s recent decision means that production will begin again for Grey’s and the new four to seven episodes are predicted to air in April/May.

Michael Ausiello, a television journalist and writer at TV Guide, compiled a list of upcoming TV shows with their approximate air date per the recent end to the writers’ strike. His list, tagged the “Ausiello Report,” is updated hourly – so feel free to keep checking to find the latest breaking news.

Katherine’s New Haircut :)

Katherine Heigl was recently seen alongside co-star T.R. Knight (aka “George”) sporting her new “do.” Heigl had been hinting that she wanted a new haircut and was just waiting for the OK from Grey’s Anatomy executives so that “Izzie” could work the new haircut on the show.

What do you think?? I just happened to read an article with Heigl in Glamour magazine’s beauty section. She was quoted saying that if there was one thing she would like to change about her look it would be her hair – and that she is just waiting (and hoping) to get the OK from Grey’s Anatomy execs that her new hairstyle would be alright for her character.

Well, I guess they granted her request.

Dr. Mark “McSteamy” Sloan and bad-boy “Alex Carev” both recently underwent serious medical attention.

Eric Dane, who plays Mark Sloan (aka “McSteamy”) head of plastic surgery on Grey’s Anatomy, was recently diagnosed with skin cancer.

His face, and story, is on the cover of OK! magazine on newsstands everywhere.

This gorgeous 35-year-old actor plays the sexy surgeon who operates on patients with skin problems. Kind of ironic, right?

Dane apparently informed OK! magazine of the latest cancer news. He said “I went to my dermatologist. He said it was malignant tissue caused by sun damage.”

Doctors froze off the growth with liquid nitrogen, a procedure described by Dane as “traumatic” for his upper lip.

Dane reportedly lost 10 lbs. due to stress, but fans can be the test to that once we see him on screen again. Grey’s lovers can hope that his health improves so we can all ogle over this amazing actor once the show resumes.

Co-star Dr. Alex Karev, played by actor Justin Chambers, had a recent scare as well. Prior to Dane’s public announcement of skin cancer, Chambers checked into a psychiatry ward at a Los Angeles hospital.

According to TMZ.com, Chambers stated that exhaustion and a pre-existing sleeping disorder was the cause of the hospitalization. His stay was voluntary; he checked in on Monday and was released on Wednesday.

Get better boys! J We want you well for the (hopeful) resume of Grey’s Anatomy production tentatively scheduled for March.

Fans: keep your fingers crossed and your hearts open for our beloved actors.

Heigl Ranked No. 1 in askmen.com’s 2008 edition of “Top 99 Women”

It’s pretty fair to say that Katherine Heigl has it all.

She’s got the blonde bombshell looks, the killer body, the recent marriage to singer/songwriter Josh Kelley, the hit role as Isabelle “Izzie” Stevens on Grey’s Anatomy that won her an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2007, she was ranked one of “The 10 Most Fascinating People of 2007” by Barbara Walters and most recently, she was ranked the top woman of the year according to, well, the male species.

Writers’ strike end is near: fact or fiction? New rumors could mean great news for Grey’s Anatomy fans…

Hopefully by now everyone has at least heard of the Writers Guild of America strike, which has dramatically affected production of more than a handful of popular hit television shows. This list includes shows such as Ugly Betty, Private Practice, Brothers and Sisters, and of course, Grey’s Anatomy.

Grey’s Anatomy, the Emmy and Golden Globe award winning American primetime television medical drama, began its first season in March of 2005. The show is currently amidst its fourth season (its last episode aired on January 10), but on a hiatus due to the recent strike. Here is just some brief background information: the Writers Guild strike, which has the support of more than 12,000 writers, began on November 5, 2007, after there was a disagreement over various credentials such as DVD residuals, union jurisdiction over animation and reality program writers and compensation for “new writers.”

Rumors are currently spreading like wildfire about possible reconciliation within the strike to resume production. If the rumors are correct, Grey’s Anatomy will be resuming production in early March, meaning fans can expect new shows to air sometime in April. J However, I have to reiterate the word rumor. Unfortunately nothing is set in stone; in fact nothing has been officially stated by any top executive. The strike is still very much in effect, but hopeful Grey’s fans can keep their fingers crossed while the next few days bring more chatter circulating the rumor mill.

The president of the WGAW (Writers Guild of America West) and the president of the WGAE (Writers Guild of America East) issued the following letter yesterday:

To Our Fellow Members,

While fully mindful of the continuing media blackout, we write you to address the rumors and reports that undoubtedly you have been hearing.

The facts: we are still in talks and do not yet have a contract. When and if a tentative agreement is reached, the first thing we will do is alert our membership with an e-mail message. Until then, please disregard rumors about either the existence of an agreement or its terms.

Until we have reached an agreement with the AMPTP, it is essential that we continue to show our resolve, solidarity, and strength.

Picketing will resume on Monday. Our leverage at the bargaining table is directly affected by your commitment to our cause. Please continue to show your support on the line. We are all in this together.
